Time to blog...what else can you do when you wake up at 4:00 and try to go back to sleep for over an hour? I'm trying to get to a new "level" of living, but I'm not there yet, and I tend to get insomnia when I'm "worried" about something.
I thought by 50, I would "have it together" and be organized and have beauty in my home, financial security that allowed me time off, and be physically fit and even thin. I am not organized, my house is a shambles most of the time because of the amount of time I work, I'm not physically fit, and the only thin thing about me is possibly my face!
Yesterday in church, Pastor Kyle challenged us not to complain. He said we "get" to work, not have to work. We get to wash our cars, etc. So, let me turn around those comments above. I get to continue to work on being organized and have a clean beautiful home. I get a new year in which to exercise and lose weight, and I still have a chance to get it together!
I think we tend to get "I" centered and forget what God has done for us. After an absolutely wonderful, memorable Christmas, I was left with a lot of Christmas cleanup. It wasn't just from entertaining. I decorate many areas of my home, and there was a lot to put away. Also, Tom and I had gotten together a lot of things we wanted to give away before Christmas and they didn't get taken to Habitat for Humanity, so they were piled in my sewing/wrapping room. On top of that, I added my Christmas gifts, which left quite a mess to dig out of yesterday. But I did it! I restacked everything to give away, put away all the wrapping paper, bows, boxes, and my Christmas gifts. I'm almost there with putting away Christmas things, and have so many ideas for making this easier next year. God is so good, and wants our focus on Him, not on the things. I'm very blessed to have so many things, and I want to share those blessings with others.
And I think of my mom and others who are suffering with a disease or can't physically do anything...I complain about too much to do, what if you wanted to do something, but couldn't? Thank you, Jesus that I am able to turn this around!
