It's almost over for the year....school. I am relieved, yet a little sad. The three preschool classes I had this year won't be together again past next Tuesday! It's been a neat year, no matter how hard it has been to grow these little ones from total dependence on the teacher--to independence and readiness for school. Just seeing Carson change and grow has been amazing, but that stands for all of them. All 35 have changed in ways I couldn't have imagined at the beginning of the year, or in some cases even a month or two ago. Now I am "harvesting my crop" of preschoolers and sending them off for kindergarten or summer vacation. I get so frustrated for having such high standards and always wanting to give up if I have a difficult situation or behavior. I forget that I am to be like Jesus. Does He give up on us, or did he look for another job when people turned Him away from their town, or if He encountered a difficult person? I'm really trying to turn over a new leaf, and live for the moment. Not a year from now, or two years from now, but just for now. As these last few days of preschool happen, I plan to enjoy the kids I've been entrusted with, minister to their families, and not worry about tomorrow. The bible says it explicitly in Matthew 6:25-34 (New International Version)
Do Not Worry
25 “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? 26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27 Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?"
I've actually probably cut a lot of hours off of my life by worrying, especially lately. When the time comes, God will direct me to the next step I am to take, and the students I am to teach, or whether to make a change from preschool to reading. For now, I am "planted" in preschool, and I plan to grow where I'm planted.

Ode to "Flu"
Flu--I hate you.
It takes a lot for me to use the word hate, but had a "bug" on Saturday/Sunday that totally sucked the life right out of me. Thank goodness that I don't get sick too often. In fact, I don't remember the last time I was that sick. Maybe sometime when my kids were growing up. It certainly gives me compassion for those who are suffering.
My kids "saved" Mother's Day by bringing food and their beautiful families over to quietly celebrate. I'm so glad we were able to get together awhile with my mom, because we just don't know how long we'll have her. It's a miracle that she is doing this well.
It's amazing, the only thing you want when you are really sick is your mom. Just hearing her voice on the phone asking about me was such a blessing. No matter how old we get, "Mom" is love.

Whew!!!
The countdown is on...I'm excited for summer to come. Yes, I will miss my little kiddos, and their hearts are pure gold, but I need "me" time. I've noticed lately my hair is pure silver on top. Hmmmmmmmm....wonder why that could be! I need days in the sun, days to organize, days to read, days to think, and days just to BE. I have been a "human doing" this year instead of a "human being." Although my preschoolers have experienced phenomenal successs and many are reading words and others are just on the verge of reading, and about half can count to 100, add and subtract, and know many other concepts, it is still nice to have an ending date to a school year, wrap it up, take a break, and then start again with a new crop!!!
Today, I got a "Food & Wine" magazine in the mail with a flap attached saying it is my last issue. I haven't even opened one issue in a year. We have a newspaper collection that we could pack about 10 families belongings in, and laundry and dishes are piling up. I haven't lived like this since college.
Now to the good news. Mother's Day lunch is going to be at our home. I'm excited. We are having asparagus soup, chopped salad, pineapple & beef kabobs, Hawaiian sweet rolls, strawberries and white cake. I'm so very grateful my mother is here this Mother's Day, and that she did not succumb to the cancer, but is seeking treatment and healing. Praise God for His goodness. I am so so blessed that Michelle and Chelsea are wonderful daughters and spoil me every Mother's day, and that I have a son who loves me and would be here if he could to celebrate with us.
My hubby is the best, and we are enjoying life together whenever we can steal a few moments. Tonight we drove through KFC, picked up supper, ate on trays in front of our Netflix movie--Saint Ralph--and had fun til I crashed. Now Tom is in bed, and I'm blogging, but once again, if I don't get my "me" time, I'm not a happy momma!
Whew! Good night.
